Ellsworth On The Youghiogheny
Ellsworth has been traveling the world with classmates from the class of ‘63. I decided to provide Ellsworth with a close to home adventure. We traveled to Ohiopyle, PA where the Youghiogheny River is located. This river provides an exciting whitewater challenge. The photo is taken shortly after the put-in while running Cucumber Rapid. I was worried that I could not provide Ellsworth with a life vest and helmet for his protection but he assured me that if the canoe should capsize he would simply fly away. He would then join when the canoe is righted and I am ready to paddle on. No such encounter occured as we safely navigated the 7.5 mile whitewater run.
